Apart from being a filmmaker, I am also an avid writer. Here is a short list of my works and some of the awards that they have won.
Won a Young Australian Writer’s Award for Poetry (secondary school), and came 1st Place in the National Youth Section for the Karen W Treanor Poetry Awards.
Judge's comments: This is a poem in quatrains, twelve of them, with strong couplet rhymes. Rhymes so close together in our time tend to produce humour, but here we get a mix of humour and serious critical commentary about life in the digital age. It begins poised between praise and satire...
Came 1st Place in Mundaring National Youth Section for the KSP Speculative Fiction Awards.
Judge's comments: Silence is both evocative and moody and manages to balance both the majestic beauty and suffocating loneliness of being stranded in space. The mood of this piece has stuck with me long after I read it, which is for me the sign of a good piece of writing.
Won the highly commended Shire of Mundaring National Youth Writers Award in the KSP Speculative Fiction Awards.
Judge's comments: A horror story set in an abandoned homeless shelter. A nice build up of tension to a suitably nasty ending.
Won the commended Youth Award in the Karen W Treanor Poetry Awards.
A poem written about the subject matter of war and the terrors that it can inflict on millions.
Won the Mundaring National Young Writers Encouragement Award in the KSP Speculative Fiction Awards.
A short story about a young man who finds a flash drive. After plugging it in, he encounters a sinister creature which stalks him in the deadliest game of hide-and-seek yet.
Won the commended Shire of Mundaring National Young Writers Award in the KSP Speculative Fiction Awards.
Judge's comments: a first person account filled with wonderful details that create tension to accelerate the plot to the terrifying moment when the narrator wakes up to find that their nightmare is real.
